AGTA Members Win Big at the 2012 Platinum Innovation Awards

AGTA Members Alishan, Omi Gems, Pioneer Gems, Oscar Heyman and Stuller were all announced as winners of the third annual JCK 2012 Platinum Innovation Awards during a press conference on June 3 at JCK Las Vegas.
An Editor's Choice and Buyer's Choice winner was selected in seven different design categories. A Best in Show award was chosen as a culmination of all votes. MORE

Jumbo Pink Diamond Fetches $17 million at Auction

The biggest pink diamond ever to appear at auction sold for USD 17.3 million (with auction premium) on Tuesday, after tense bidding at Christie's spring jewelry auction in Hong Kong.
It was named "Martian Pink" by American jeweller Harry Winston to celebrate the first satellite mission to Mars by the U.S. in the same year. MORE

Invited by the American Gem Society we all waited noisily for the announcement. Ruth Batson, AGS Executive Director and CEO, quietly took the stage to announce that the American Gem Society (AGS), has acquired the remaining forty-nine percent (49%) interest of American Gem Society Laboratories (AGS Labs) that it does not currently own, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of the AGS.
