The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) showcased a colorful array of jewelry for the annual Jewelry Information Center (JIC) Fine Jewelry Preview, held in New York City last week. The event attracted top editors, stylists and bloggers to view new jewelry designs. This year's attendance list was impressive and included Lucky, Marie Claire, Vogue, Women's Wear Daily and W Magazine, just to name a few! On Oct. 10, some of the biggest names in the gem and jewelry industry will gather at GIA's (Gemological Institute of America) Carlsbad, Calif. headquarters for its annual Jewelry Career Fair & Open House. The day's events, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., include recruiting opportunities with globally recognized gem and jewelry companies, three not-to-miss panel presentations, one-on-one career coaching with industry experts, education demonstrations and much more. The free event marks the only time each year that the coastal 30-acre Carlsbad campus is open to the public without appointment. MORE
Bonhams Jewelry Sale Achieves Strong Prices for Pearls

Bonhams fine jewelry sale in London achieved $6.7 million (GBP 4.2 million) with natural pearls experiencing impressive prices. Seventy-five pearls, fastened with a diamond clasp, was the most valuable lot of the sale at $319,000 (GBP 194,500) and a single-row pearl necklace of 70 pearls achieved $181,000 (GBP 110,500) against a high presale estimate of only $14,700. A three-row necklace of natural saltwater pearls sold for quadruple the presale estimate at $151,500 (GBP 92,500). MORE
