In one instance, a beautiful deep reddish pink hued specimen in a retro Cartier setting was valued more without the signed ring setting than set in it. A major reason, the market for pink tourmaline, like much of the jewelry industry in recent years, hinges on Chinese demand, where their growing wealth has fueled an insatiable appetite for fine jewelry and exquisite gems over the past few years.
